The surgery runs a consultation by appointment system. This enables us to ensure that your waiting time is kept to an absolute minimum and most importantly reduces the waiting time for your pets, who doubtless have better things to do with their time than hang around vets' surgeries! This system also makes us aware of the reason for your visit.
In the case of emergencies you will be seen just as soon as possible by the veterinary surgeon. The nursing staff are available from 8.30 am to 7.30 pm to give advice and immediate care as necessary and appropriate. We also have a 24 hour emergency line so that in genuine emergencies you will be able to be seen by a veterinary surgeon.
Whereas we are happy to make home visits, it is always preferable that you bring your pet to the surgery whenever possible.
Here we have the experienced staff and specialist equipment to hand. This is especially true for acute cases such as road traffic accidents, where prompt treatment and hospitalisation can be life-saving. If yuo have transportation problems please do either contact us or Pet Ambulance to arrange expert assistance in this area.
If a home visit is required please telephone the surgery as early as is possible to arrange this.
These we hope you will find reasonable. The practice philosophy
is to charge where costs are incurred. All our fees are calculated on the basis
that they will be paid for at the time of treatment or at the end of
a
course of treatment. Estimates of the cost of any treatment are available on
request. An additional charge is made when an account has to be sent.
We are happy to accept payment by cheque with a bankers card, cash, Access, Switch and most other major credit and debit cards.Discounts may be given for additional animals treated or vaccinated at the same time or from the same household.
If you anticipate any problem with payment of fees please discuss this with the vet at the beginning of the consultation. In case of hardship we are willing to consider payment by instalments.
The drugs used for animals are covered by strict legislation and can only be prescribed following a clinical examination of your pet. we are able to supply repeat prescriptions in some cases but this must be done with the express consent of a veterinary surgeon within the practice who has knowledge of your animal's history. All cases must be examined at least every 6 months. Some conditions such as heart failure or certain types of arthritis may require clinical examination of your pet at shorter intervals. This is to ensure that the treatment which has been prescribed is working satisfactorily and that there are no unnoticed side-effects which could be monitored and appropriate alternative treatment be prescribed. Whenever possible it is helpful to give us notice by telephone when requesting repeat prescriptions. Other health care products such as "multi" wormers, effective flea control products and dental care products can be supplied to our clients at the surgeries. A full range of dog and cat foods are available for different stages of your pet's life cycle. Special diets for particular medical conditions can also be purchased at reception.
